Traveling for Spring Break, or any holiday, can test even the most effective planners. Not only do you have to plan out your trip, devise a budget, and get the best deals, but in 2024, you’ll be doing it alongside millions of Americans, as 13% of adults in the United States are planning a trip during spring break. (1) While you can normally plan around the most common travel irritants, forgetting your prescription or needing a doctor fast can ruin any well-laid plans. Fortunately, Call-On-Doc has got you and your family covered by offering an easy way to get your prescription refill throughout the United States. Great for those traveling and needing a doctor or quick refill.

How to get a prescription refill through Call-On-Doc while traveling

Available wherever you have a WiFi or cellular connection in the United States, Call-On-Doc makes getting the medication you need easy, whether for an applicable prescription refill or when you need something new to treat an illness fast. All you have to do is start a consultation for a prescription refill or any condition we treat that affects you. The online consultation only takes minutes to complete and prescriptions are sent to your pharmacy of choice in two hours or less! If you are on a time crunch, you can even utilize express visit services for prescriptions in 15 minutes!

Can you get a prescription refill at a different pharmacy?

Absolutely. Through Call-On-Doc, you can choose the best pharmacy that fits your needs at that time. Whether it is a pharmacy nearest to your hotel, rental, airport, or on the way, Call-On-Doc makes getting the medication you need easy and convenient.

Does Call-On-Doc provide vacation overrides for international travel?

When you’re planning a vacation, Call-On-Doc offers options with our prescription refills, allowing for 30, 60, and 90 days' worth of medication for certain conditions. Patients who have not used Call-On-Doc before will need to show proof that they’ve had the prescription before but otherwise are free to use a prescription refill under reasonable circumstances.

What are the rules for traveling with medication?

When it comes to flying with prescription medications, the Transportation Security Administration has its own regulations and defers to different states where applicable. An example of that would be that while the TSA does not require pill bottles for medication storage, some states will. (2)

The passenger can even bring as much of the medication as they want based on the TSA’s rules, but the caveat is that it must be in a state that can be screened or physically examined if it cannot be moved through the x-ray screening. (2) Such rules might be different when traveling internationally.

What is the TSA 311 rule for medication?

Solid medications, like pills, don’t necessarily have many restrictions based on the TSA’s rules and regulations. However, in a liquid or gel state, the TSA does have restrictions you should be aware of when traveling.

More specifically, the 311 rule states that passengers are permitted to carry a quart-sized bag containing liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes through the checkpoint but each item must be 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less.

It's important to remember this specific rule when carrying prescription medications, as breaking it may cause the removal of your prescription medication or a significant delay in your plans.
